2013 Highlights: UC IPM Annual Report
Watch and learn about year-round IPM programs
Growers and pest control advisers can now learn about our year-round IPM programs and managing almond pests by watching two online videos on using these resources.
For a guided tour of the features and benefits of year-round IPM programs for field, orchard, and vineyard crops, take a look at Using Year-Round IPM Programs. A year-round IPM program is a checklist for the agricultural pest management activities you need to do throughout the season.
The video has seven short chapters patterned after the components of an IPM program: Introduction, Prevention, Pest Identification, Monitoring, Management Decisions, Management Methods, and Environmental Concerns and Summary. Short interactive quizzes at the end of each chapter test your knowledge.
From How to Manage Almond Pests Using the Year-Round IPM Program you can learn to manage the key almond pests using the almond year-round IPM program. Monitoring for peach twig borer, making management decisions for weeds, and planning for the following season are all activities covered in the video.
Even better is how the almond year-round IPM program connects to the information in the Almond Pest Management Guidelines, so you can read about the details… how to monitor, what the treatment thresholds are, or the best pesticide to use.
