DESCRIPTION:
Nettleleaf goosefoot is among the most common summer annuals. Cotyledons (seed leaves) are dark green, narrow, and oblong
to lance-shaped. Leaf margins are weakly toothed. Minute white dotlike scales sparsely cover the upper and especially
lower leaf surface. Later leaves are triangular oval to lance-shaped on slender stalks about half the length of the blades.
Margins are coarsely toothed, the upper surface is glossy, dark green, and the lower surface is sparsely covered with
a fine white powdery scaly coating. Young leaves have a moist dewy coating and have a strong odor when crushed. Mature
nettleleaf goosefoot plants are up to 3 feet (90 cm) tall, with branches arising mostly
from the base of the main stem. Most flower clusters are at the tips of
the main stem and branches, but some arise from the area below where the leaf stalk and stem join..
