DESCRIPTION:
Bentgrasses are fine-bladed perennials spread by seed and stolons. Stems root easily and form stems at every node. Bentgrasses develop dense sod patches, normally much finer than other turf except fine fescue which has a rolled, rather than flat, leaf. The leaf blades and sheath are without hairs. The collar has a membranous ligule and there are no auricles. Commonly used as a turfgrass, bentgrass is most often found in cool climates and in areas of frequent irrigation.
