Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Myoporum, lollipop tree—Myoporum spp.*
Family Myoporaceae (Myoporum family)
Myoporums are tough and fast-growing evergreen shrubs or trees. Leaves are shiny dark green and have translucent dots. Flowers are bell-shaped and may be white, cream, or pink. Tiny purplish, blue, red, or white fruits form after bloom.
*Some species of Myoporum are invasive weeds. Other types of plants may be better choices when planting.
Optimum conditions for growth
Myoporums are often planted as hedges, screens, or along banks and slopes. Shrubby types can be grown as ground cover. Most species do best in areas with full sun. Some will do well in partial shade. Provide little to moderate amounts of water and good drainage. Prune as needed to shape growth.
