Pests in Gardens and Landscapes
Grevillea, Silk oak—Grevillea spp.
Family Proteaceae (Protea family)
Grevilleas are evergreen trees and shrubs with fine-textured leaves and long, thin curled flowers. Flowers form in clusters and come in many colors including red, orange, yellow, pink, cream, and white.
Optimum conditions for growth
There are many species of Grevillea. Some do well as bank covers, others as trimmed hedges. Small trees can be planted as potted plants outdoors or as houseplants. Many grevilleas do well in full sun or partial shade, but this varies among species. Grevilleas mostly require little or no water. Plant in good soil without a lot of salt and apply light amounts of fertilizer that is low in phosphorus.
