How to Manage Pests

Pests in Gardens and Landscapes

Natural enemies

Aboveground mealybugs are commonly controlled by natural enemies, especially in citrus. Parasitic wasps are very important in orchards that have not been sprayed with insecticides. Native predators, including lady beetles, lacewings, and syrphid flies, help with control. An introduced beetle known as the mealybug destroyer is also present, mostly in Southern California.
