Educational Programs: Moving Beyond Pesticides – Environmentally Safe Tools for Use in an IPM Program for Retail Employees

Moving Beyond Pesticides

This online training course is for retail and garden center employees and others who advise consumers about the best tools and products for solving pest problems.  It gives a basic introduction to the principles of Integrated Pest Management including information about pest identification, changing conditions that favor pests, and combining various least-toxic methods for the best long-term management of pests.

The course:

  • Takes about 1 hour to complete.  It is broken into six sections, and does not need to be completed in one sitting.
  • Is narrated – you'll need your computer's sound turned on. For users who are without audio capabilities or are hearing impaired, view the script by clicking on the Notes pane in the viewer sidebar.
  • Includes quizzes.  You will need to pass each quiz before moving on to the next section's quiz, however you can repeat quizzes until you pass.

Complete the course in these steps:

  1. Click the Log in link below and create an account
  2. Register
  3. View the course sections and take quizzes
